In Brisbane
Hi everybody!
It has been a while since I wrote anything here. I'm currently staying at a friend's place in a suburb outside Brisbane. Today I went to a shopping mall for a trialwork-day. I did get the job, which is awesome, the only negative thing is that I won't get as many hours as I'd want to. So I'll keep looking for other alternatives although this is a very good plan B. I'd actually really like to try fruit picking; the pay may not be better than this job but I think one might be able to get more hours during the week. The plan for now is to find a job and stick around in Queensland for 2-3 weeks until we head to Cairns.
Anyway, while I try to upload my videoblog about surfcamp, here's a video of the wetlands of Brisbane. The most beautiful beaches I've seen so far! (not hah..)

Byron Bay
Hi!
After five days of surfing in Seven Mile Beach on Surfcamp and an 11 hours busdrive we've finally reached Byron Bay. The plan is to stay here for a few days before we leave to Brisbane.
The camp was really amazing - one of the best things I've done so far! All the people we're really great and the surfinstructures were awesome. Unfortunately, I caught an ear infection so I could only surf for 3 and a half days... I tried to surf with earplugs today, however it didn't work. So I can't surf this weekend either, which sucks. But I'm looking forward to exploring Byron! Pictures and videos will come up once I've got the time and internet for it (I know I keep saying that... Sorry)
If you don't know where Byron Bay is, check "My Map Blog" on the right column here on my blog!

Blue Mountains, Canberra and Hunter Vally!
Hi everybody!
I know, it has been a really long time since I blogged the last time. The problem is that we are 9 people sharing one network, and everyone is downloading a lot... Which means that the internet is extremely slow. I couldn't even log in to Facebook or Hotmail at all. Anyhow, here are some updates what I've done the last three days!
Thursday, 12/01/2012, BLUE MOUNTAINS!
On thursday, Katja and I went on a one day trip to the Blue Mountains with a group called Tours R us. It was really great - a fairly small group and good guide. We started off by visiting the Olympics 2000. After a couple of photos we headed off to in Featherdale Wildpark where we got to cuddle with kangaroos and koalas. I even hold a snake for the first time - really awesome! Once we were done there, our trip continued to the Mountains. It was really amazing, the view was marvelous! And since the majority of the trees are eucalyptus, there was a scent of eucalyptus in the air.
Friday, 13/01/2012, CANBERRA!
During this day, we went on a trip to the captial of Australia, Canberra! We went to the War Memorial, had a guided tour in new Parliament, went to the museum and went home on a 45 min cruise back to Circular Quay. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to explore the actual city itself, but I can highly recommend everyone to take a trip there if you are close by!
Saturday, 14/01/2012, HUNTER VALLY!
Today we went to Hunter Vally. We were only 4 (!!!) in our group! It was me, Katja and an older couple from California. The tour started in the Reptile Park outside Sydney. Again, we had the chance to cuddle with kangaroos. We also got some kangaroo food and fed them. Then we headed to the Smelly Cheese Shop where we tried local cheese. I'm not a cheese person but that was amazing!! Then we went to our first wineyard where we got to try ten different wines. Once we were done, we went to a restaurant where we ate bruchetta, ceasar salad, pasta, antipasti and potatoes - and one glass of wine for every meal. Then we headed to the last winery where we got another ten samples and ended the day with chocolate-tasting.
I can really recommend every single place. Blue Mountain is a stunning place - the nature is beyond beautiful and if you wish to escape the noisy citylife, this is the place to go. Canberra is a beautiful city with a great history. The perfect place for those who wants to get some cultural aspects of Australia. Hunter Vally is a great place for all the gourmet people! WOnderful wines, amazing cheese and good chocolate. The surroundings are also extremely beautiful and peaceful. Three great places outside Sydney that are all terrific and so dissimilar to each other. But no matter what place you choose to visit , you won't get disappointed. :)
Videos and pictures will appear as soon as I've edited them! So stay updated. ;)
Cheers!

Joy!
I have a wonderful message to you guys!!
It's 9 am here... I just woke up... With the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
Two big bags packed with clothes and make-up/creams.
The koreans are finally moving!
Nono. Like.
THE KOREANS ARE FINALLY MOVING!!!
And I have a sad message.
A really sad one.
Three new koreans are moving in today once these four are moving...
I think I haven't written so much about them here in my blog. But trust me. Ever since we moved in with them, I've wanted to poke each and everyone with a chopstick in the eye. I sound rude? Wait wait. Let me make a list of things that have annoyed us for the past 4 weeks. I'll even categorize it for you.
In the morning:
* They wake up at 7 and are really loud. Yes, they talk, scream and laugh.
* They love it to turn on the light since they are to stupid to walk when it's half-dark
* They flood the bathroom everytime one of them walks in there. DON'T ASK ME HOW. I've tried to simulate it in various ways myself and I can't come to a conclusion to how they manage it to get so much water on the floor and sink. The only way I can think of is if they fill a freakin bucket with water and throw it out in the bathroom.
* They put on their creams... IN OUR ROOM... AFTER THEY'VE FLOODED THE BATHROOM... WITH THEIR LIGHTS TURNED OUT... AT 7 O'CLOCK... through slapping themselves. NO I'M NOT EVEN JOKING THIS TIME. They litterally hit themsleves a hundret times in the face while putting on 60 different creams. And thaaaaaaat is really noisy for a person who just woke up at 7 although this person didn't have in mind to wake up before 10 am.
During the day:
* They are always home. Mm, det never go out in the daylight.
* Very often, they have these secret little groupmeetings in our room where they all sit together. Like, no... There are just 4 rooms to chose from... And a big livingroom... Why wouldn't you chose our room.
* They always eat. Litterally always. As soon as we get home, they're munching on either some noodles, or bread with jam, or chips, or rice, or rice... Oh did I mention rice? And they have some kind of weird meat...fishy... grunge in a plastic bag in the fridge. I don't dare to ask what it is, but I swear to god something was moving last time I opened the fridge and saw the food.
* The food they keep eating is so smelly that we almost want to committ suicide.
* They never clean. They haven't touched the vacuum cleaner once and they always leave their hair in layers on the bathroom floor. And I don't think they've ever thrown out the garbage either... Once, I was really considering pouring out all of the garbage in their beds. Just to prove a point you know.
Wow. Half of the bag is just creams. Like... Half clothes... Half creams... Wow. Sorry. I'll keep on with my list.
In the evenings:
* They are always home, sitting in our room, and watching movies unil 3 am in the morning. And do you think they have earplugs? Noo, why would they. They want me and Katja to hear their beautiful language, consisitng of a lot of weird sounds which can't even be classified as a language, spoken by all the manga-characters in the world.
* Still eating.
* Once we go to bed, and they've finished their movies, they are (again) too stupid to MAYBE turn on the flashlight on their phones so they LIGHT UP THE ROOM AGAIN... AND START MOVING THINGS.. BEING REALLY NOISY... Like, it's a wonder that they haven't got this chopstick in their eyes yet.
You might think I'm overreacting. And that's fine. I can understand you. But I want to see you live in this freakshow for one month. You wouldn't even have the streght to write this post.
And you might think I'm a hater now. And that's fine. Cuz' I know I've turned into one since we moved in with these girls. Not on purpose, no. And I can't help but having prejudges against the newcomers. I will try to greet them with an open mind. I really am going to try.
10 minutes left.
Charging with two chopsticks.
Cheers!

Workin'
Yo errrbody!
Will be a little of from now on, sorry. We're working in the warehouse again and we got work until friday. We've calculated that we need to work for at least 7 days - 8 hours per day - in order to get the money for Fraser and Whitsundays together. So we will try to work there as much as possible.
The work itself is so boring... Like... I can't even explain it in words. We stood today for 8 hours, taping together boxes. I'm not even joking. We stood for freakin 8 hours in a row and closed box after box after box after box. But we get money... And we need it. So we will try to stick there for as long as possible. Since we're leaving Sydney the 16th, we're kind of in a hurry!
Tips for backpackers: If you want to save money, buy food in a supermarket such as for instance Coles. Don't buy it in the corner store! One friend went to one of those. You will find that they very often skip writing the price on the items. So this friend brought a 1 L coca cola and one bag of chips for 70 kronor. So you will definitely pay to much for the stuff. Coles is where I buy my food and they have a sale on different things everyday. They have for example canned tuna for 90 cent here, it's cheap, good and works more than fine with some rice and eggs. That's what I've been eating for almost one month!
Also, try and buy as much fruit and vegetables as possible when they're on sale. It is really expensive to be healthy in this country, one apple costs often more than 2 dollars (14 kronor)!
hope you will all have a really nice day/evening. I will probably go for a swim in the pool tonight ;) see ya later!
