VIDEOBLOG: Tasmania part 1

Hey everybody.

So I've been in Tasmania since a week now. I'm travelling with a friend in his van, exploring the island. So far we've only been on the westcoast - Bay of Fires, Lagoon beach, Friendly beaches and Wineglass bay. We're staying at a hostel in Hobart at the moment and booked in two nights. The plan is now to look for farmjobs - we already have an offer but since we prefer not to work on contract (i.e. getting paid based on the amount of fruit you're picking) we're trying to find something else.

Tips for backpackers: there is only one ferry going to Tasmania, Spirit of Tasmania. The cheapest ticket is the day ticket which costs 123 dollars and you will arrive to Devonport. The trip itself takes 8 h but the facilities are very good and they have a range of activities throughout the whole trip such as cinema and live music performances. If you book the flight couple of weeks/a month in advance, you can get it for 60-70 AUD.

Anyway, here is a video capturing our first week. Unfortunately, the pictures and videos don't do the reality justice. The surroundings are just beyond amazing - this island is like a mini-version of NZ according to some people.

VIDEOBLOG: The hidden streets in Melbourne

Hi!

So today is my last day in Melbourne. It has been a very important one for me since I arrived in a city, travelling completely alone for the first time since I came to Australia. I love this city - it is so beautiful and inspiring in many different ways. It's a great place for both shopping and food and it seems like there's always something happening in the city; whether it's a festival, concert or exhibition. I've tried to include as much as possible in my video, unfortunately because of the size, I had to cut it down a lot. I did one seperate for the city in general and one for the backstreets of Melbourne.

Tomorrow I'll be heading to Tasmania. My ferry leaves at 9am and I will take the tram at around 7am. Hopefully I'll have internet access once in a while. Stay updated for more future videos!

Cheers!

VIDEOBLOG: Gloria Jean's. Brisbane. I will miss you!

Hi,

so yesterday was my last day at work. Pretty sad, I liked the job and my colleagues. Tomorrow I'll head to Melbourne. I'm nervous but excited at the same time.

Summary of Brisbane:

I really liked the city. The CBD is a lot smaller than Sydney and it's a really cosy city; especially South Bank. There are no nice beaches close by (heading to the Gold coast takes 1 hour with car and 2 with public transport) so they built a beach in the city. It looks nice but I didn't want to swim there, too many people are just watching and walking by haha. The public transport is fairly complicated; they have something called gocard. You use it to touch on and off whenever you leave and arrive a new station. However, they're pretty bad at timing the different services and it's pretty expensive too. The nature around the city is however very beautiful and I recommend everyone to travel outside the city to see the beautiful surroundings of Brizzie.

cheers!
